Chris Hunter

Chris Hunter is the founder of Bike EXIF. A Londoner by birth, he travelled the world as an award-winning advertising creative director before starting Bike EXIF in late 2008.

The website is often credited as the primary force behind the modern custom motorcycle and café racer revolution. It has been cited by motorcycle designers as a major influence on the current generation of ‘retro modern’ motorcycles.

For the Berlin-based publisher Gestalten, Chris co-edited both editions of The Ride, the definitive books on modern custom motorcycle culture. He has also been profiled in Ralph Lauren’s print magazine, RL, and contributed the foreword for the cafe racer book by historian Paul d’Orléans, Ton Up!

Most recently, Chris was interviewed at length for the documentary film on custom motorcycle culture, Oil In The Blood. He’s judged ‘bike build-offs,’ contributed to print magazines such as Bike in the UK, and is often quoted on motorcycle matters in mainstream newspapers.

When Chris is not riding his Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 or writing about motorcycles, he potters around his small family farm in rural New Zealand, entertains a never-ending stream of visitors, and attempts to find a decent cellphone connection.

Chris sold Bike EXIF in 2020 and it is now part of COLE Publishing, Inc., headquartered in Eagle River, Wisconsin, USA.
