Sky Team Ace 125

Well, here’s a surprise. A Chinese-built motorcycle with a dash of style, reportedly good build quality, and a nod to the Japanese racing heritage of the 1960s.

It’s the Sky Team Ace 125, a loose replica of the Honda CR110 racer. Honda itself created a replica in 2004, the lovely Dream 50R, but the Ace 125 is a mass-market bike available to all. It’s passed homologation and emissions tests and the US sticker price will be around $2,500.

Sky Team is the trading name of the Jiangsu Sacin Motorcycle Co., a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer with a typical range of small capacity motos. The Ace is powered by a four-stroke air-cooled two-valve single, runs 18” wheels, and has both electric and kick starts.

Output is a mere 10 hp, but the bike weighs only 225 lb—a smidge over 100 kg. There’s also a 50cc version, but this might be stretching the minimalism theme a little too far.

Head over to Mid Life Cycles for more information. The Ace 125 probably wouldn’t find a place in my garage, but if I saw 17-year-olds falling for this rather than plastic fantastic scooters or MotoGP-lookalikes, I’d be a happy man.

The Ace 125 is on sale in the USA, Europe and Australia.
